Recovery App
A phone app to help with Recovery?
Allyson Appen of Today’sStep.com, an online site “providing inspiration and support, one day at a time,” shares their new app for iPhone and Android.
As Allyson explains, “What separates it from all of the other recovery apps is that we have an integrative perspective with daily quotes, qigong (pronounced “chee gong”) exercises, guided audio meditation, and some amazing stories from the recovery community.” She goes on to say, “It’s not only for people fresh out of rehab, but equally appropriate for folks who have been in recovery for the long term.”
As someone with experience from the family side of the disease of addiction, these apps are of great help to family members and friends doing their own recovery work, as well.
Quoting from those who use Today’sStep.com’s app:
“We are excited to be the first treatment center in Canada to offer Today’s Step mobile app as part of our aftercare program, and so are our clients. Recovery happens one day at a time and having daily inspiration at your fingertips is a welcome addition to our recovery toolkit.” Lorinda Strang, Executive Director of The Orchard Treatment Center
“Thank you for Today’s Step. It’s so easy to get caught up in the busyness of life and ignore what works. Today’s Step is a quick and simple app to use and most important, it’s relevant to me and my personal wellness. Now anytime — day or night — wherever I happen to be and whenever I happen to need some encouragement, it’s literally at my fingertips. I love that I can briefly read a mindful quote or take 20 minutes to do some Qigong. Today’s Step is amazing!” Kathy G.
