Just reading through some of the website and I have to share with you that a huge weight has been lifted from my heart (or brain?). …My daughter is on day one of a 28 day rehab for opiate addiction. Ordered your book about “being in treatment, now what.” Had wondered what would happen after 28 days. She has too. Also, it had never entered my mind about healing our family or that we even needed it. My mother, sisters and I have been involved with raising her young daughter (almost 2 years old), worrying about my daughter, worrying about my granddaughter’s future – it really has impacted the family. We’ll be working on that. But sitting here at my desk, I feel… for the first time in over a year … hopeful.

As a physician who is board certified in both Emergency Medicine and Addiction Medicine and the Medical Director for an out-patient addiction service I highly recommend “Quick Guide to Addiction Recovery“. The author does a great job of explaining that addiction is a disease of the brain, no different than how diabetes is a disease of the pancreas.
